Beauty Retail & Salon Interior Design

Beauty retail lives or dies on first impression. A customer decides how a brand feels within seconds of walking through the door — long before they've touched a single product. For Eman Cosmetics, Domora was brought in to design a retail and salon space that could do exactly that: signal quality, warmth, and credibility the moment someone steps inside.

Starting With the Brand, Not the Furniture

Rather than defaulting to a generic beauty-store layout, Domora's team built the entire space around the brand identity itself. A backlit "Eman Cosmetics" sign sits above a large branded lifestyle photograph, instantly establishing who the space belongs to and what it sells, while soft greige tones and warm brass-toned lighting keep the overall feel closer to a boutique hotel spa than a typical retail shopfront.
This brand-first approach to commercial interior design matters more in beauty retail than almost any other category — the space has to build trust in a product before a customer ever tests it, and interior design does a large share of that persuasive work.

A Feature Wall Built to Sell

The centerpiece of the store is a fluted, channel-panelled feature wall flanked by open-frame display shelving on either side. Products are lit individually and arranged like objects worth noticing rather than stock on a shelf — a retail merchandising principle Domora applies deliberately, since good lighting and clean sightlines increase how long a customer's eye stays on any single product.

The branded photography panel at the center of this wall does double duty: it reinforces the Eman Cosmetics identity for every customer walking in, and it can be updated or swapped as campaigns change, without touching the architectural finish around it.

Vanity Stations Built for the Full Experience

Toward the rear of the space, arched and rounded backlit mirrors — styled with warm Hollywood-bulb lighting — anchor a row of vanity and consultation stations. Each mirror shape is different, breaking up what could otherwise be a repetitive row of identical stations, while mirrored and fluted cabinetry beneath provides both product storage and a polished, reflective surface that keeps the room feeling brighter and larger than its actual footprint.
This kind of vanity design is standard in professional makeup and beauty studios for good reason: bulb-style lighting flatters skin tones evenly and mimics the lighting conditions clients will actually experience their makeup in, day or night — a small technical detail that has a real impact on client trust in the final result.

A Lounge That Doesn't Feel Like a Waiting Room

Rather than rows of stiff retail seating, a soft bouclé sofa in warm ivory, layered with blush and mauve cushions, creates a lounge corner that feels closer to a living room than a shop floor. A round, open-shelf side table finished in the same soft palette holds magazines and styling props, giving clients somewhere comfortable to wait or browse rather than standing at a counter.
This detail reflects a broader shift in beauty retail design across Dubai and the UAE, where brands increasingly want their physical spaces to feel like an extension of the product experience — unhurried, comfortable, and worth spending time in — rather than a purely transactional counter.

Materials Chosen for Longevity and Light

Every material in the space earns its place twice: once aesthetically, once functionally. Fluted MDF panelling adds texture without the cost or maintenance of natural stone; a swirling abstract-pattern carpet hides foot traffic marks in a high-footfall retail environment; and mirrored cabinet fronts amplify the store's ambient lighting, reducing how much artificial light is needed to keep the space feeling bright throughout the day.
Warm, dimmable cove lighting traces the ceiling perimeter throughout, allowing the space to shift from bright and energetic during business hours to softer and more intimate for evening appointments or private beauty consultations.

Solving the Practical Side of Retail Design

A retail and salon fit-out like this comes with technical demands that aren't visible in the finished photos: electrical routing for illuminated shelving and signage, structural backing for wall-mounted mirrors and display units, and precise setting-out of fluted paneling to keep every groove aligned across multiple walls. Domora managed all of it under one roof — design, engineering, and execution — so the finished store opened exactly as designed, with no on-site surprises.

Designing Retail Spaces That Build Brand Loyalty

This project shows how considered interior design can do real commercial work for a beauty brand — building trust, encouraging customers to linger, and making every product on the shelf look like it's worth its price. For beauty brands, salons, and retail businesses across Dubai and the UAE planning a new store or renovation, Domora offers the same end-to-end approach: one team, from concept through to opening day.
