Modern Guest or Teen Bedroom Design with Study

A bedroom that also has to work as a study is usually a compromise. This one avoids that: a soft, tonal palette, arched wardrobes, brass accents, and a built-in desk and shelving wall let the room be restful at night and practical during the day.

A Headboard Wall in Soft Tones

Behind the bed, large upholstered-look panels in warm grey create a quiet, tailored backdrop. Fine grooves between the panels break the wall into proportioned blocks, and a concealed LED line along the ceiling edge washes the surface with warm light. Because the colour is kept so close to the bedding and the floor, the wall adds structure without adding noise.

Arched Wardrobes With a Touch of Craft

Along the right wall, tall white wardrobes carry a carved arch relief on the doors, with long brass handles and a thin brass trim line. A slim open arched niche between the doors holds shelves for display. The curves soften the room's straight lines and give an everyday storage wall a more crafted look. Fluted panelling at the top and bottom of the wardrobe adds another layer of texture.

Brass Pendants Instead of Bedside Lamps

Sculptural pendants with elongated brass loops and a glass globe hang beside the bed, so the nightstands stay free for books and personal items. The warm metal ties in with the wardrobe handles and the nightstand pulls, which keeps the finish consistent across the room.

A Bed Designed for Comfort

The bed has a soft headboard in a muted blush-beige, with a wide, channelled bench at its foot in a matching tone. The bedding mixes grey, cream, and houndstooth, with a small green cushion and a knotted accent pillow for colour. The nightstands have an open shelf above a drawer with a curved brass handle, which keeps essentials close by.

A Built-In Desk and Shelving Wall

Opposite the wardrobes, a floating desk is set into a joinery wall, with closed storage above and below and a slim shelf above the work surface. Beside it, a tall open bookcase with warm LED strips under every shelf displays books and decorative objects. A tall mirror next to the desk reflects the room and brings in more light. The desk gives the room a proper place for study, work, or getting ready, without needing a separate room.

Layered Lighting That Suits Every Use

The ceiling combines recessed downlights with a black linear track for bright, even light while working. At night, the LED coves, the shelf strips, and the pendants take over to give the room a warm glow. This range makes the same room comfortable for reading, homework, or sleeping.

Natural Textures and Daylight

Full-height sheer curtains run along the window wall, softening the daylight, and a herringbone oak floor adds warmth underfoot. A large pale rug sits under the bed and bench, and the mix of oak, fabric, and brass keeps the room natural and calm.

Planning the Details

A room that combines sleeping, storage, and study needs careful planning. The design coordinated the wardrobe depth, desk height, shelf lighting, mirror position, and ceiling layout together, so each function has enough space without crowding the room.
